What is uss sumter?

USS Sumter was a Clemson-class destroyer in the United States Navy. It was commissioned on June 15, 1920, and was named after the city of Sumter, South Carolina. During World War II, the ship was deployed to the Pacific Theater and participated in various operations, including the Battle of Midway and the Solomon Islands campaign. It was later reclassified as an AG-32 light cargo transport vessel and was decommissioned in 1946. The ship was sold for scrap in 1947.
